Although a relatively new concept to the UK, Baby Yoga has been practiced in other cultures for hundreds of years. In India, it is traditional for new born babies to receive a daily massage and some yoga from birth.
Joining a Baby Yoga activity group is a great way to meet other mums, dads or carers and share experiences.
Baby Yoga classes provide a low impact workout for both Mum and Baby, including some gentle postnatal exercises for Mum.
Baby Yoga is also a wonderful way to bond with your baby and have fun together as you are interacting closely with your baby and communicating with your baby all the time through positive touch and singing songs and nursery rhymes!. It encourages instinctive parenting and promotes many well used techniques for calming, soothing and reassuring baby. A session of Baby Yoga stimulates all of your baby’s body systems and helps to integrate all of baby's senses. Baby Yoga classes use fun rhymes and songs to help you learn the simple and rhythmic movements and to help relax your baby. This helps both the parent and the baby to get to know each other, enhancing communication and the natural bond.
